Happy Spring everyone! Wedgewood is 50 years old and throughout the 2019 season I plan to share some history from Wedgewood’s first year — 1968. In April of 1968, 600 seedlings were planted including pine, sycamore, and poplar trees. In January 2019, Wedgewood experienced an ice storm and then in February heavy winds and I think all 600 trees had damage. Our theme this spring at Wedgewood is “pick up sticks”.
Please join us Sunday, March 31 at 1 p.m. for the Cart Path Fundraiser Tournament. This tournament is a two-person 18-hole scramble with cash flight prizes (flights based on the number of entries). CTP prizes will be awarded and a silent auction will be held from noon till after the tournament. Items include St Louis Cardinal tickets; Ledgestone, Pointe Royale, and West Plain Country Club golf certificates; one-ounce silver coin; famous chocolate cake; gift baskets and more. To sign up please leave a message at the proshop at 417.926.5374 and the cost is $90 per team. Peoples Community Bank is providing burgers after the tournament.
Wedgewood will host a youth golf clinic organized through the Ozarks Family YMCA for both Cabool and Mtn Grove participants. The first clinic will be at 9 a.m. Saturday, April 6. April 25, 1968, “A golf clinic will be offered at the Cabool High School gym with Tom Mahoney as the instructor. Films, movies and indoor practice will be included. As the class progresses, practice will be moved to WWCC.”
Wedgewood is offering corporate memberships for the 2019 season and the new member family discount is available. Children under 12 can play for free after 5:00 p.m. under the supervision of a member or an adult paid green fee.
Wedgewood is happy to have several volunteers that will man the proshop for the 2019 season. We are in need of additional volunteers and if you are interested please call 417.962.2288. The Wedgewood Proshop will open for the season Tuesday, April 2nd.
