Wedgewood Happenings — 04.08.2019

Twenty- two youth participated in the Ozarks YMCA golf clinic held at Wedgewood Saturday, April 4.   Young golfers practiced drills on the driving range and on the putting green. A big thank you to the instructors Charlie Blackwell, John Mark Hale, Jody Jarrett, Doug Jones, Linda Le Baron, Richard Nelson, Jerry Moore and BJ Proctor.  Additional clinics are scheduled for April 13, 20 and 27th.

The 2019 Wedgewood Cart Path Fundraiser Tournament played Sunday afternoon April 7th. After a reschedule date and much ado about the weather April 7th turned out to be a lovely golfing day.  Championship Flight winners included first place Trent Jones and Shelby Gray and second place Carl Tune and Jeremy Haynes.    A-Flight winners included first place Jody Jarrett and Jordan Noirfalise and second place Tony Courtney and Roger Moon.  CTP winners were hole 2 John Cook; hole 5  Trent Jones and hole 7 Michele Myers.  Thank you to all that participated in the tournament, purchased silent auction items and gave donations.

Wedgewood History Files — April 25, 1968 Work on the clubhouse and swimming pool is expected to be completed in two weeks.  The well was drilled to 975 feet.  A 16MM projector has been secured for the club.  A color TV and a set of golf clubs will be given away at the official opening in July.  March 27, 1969 Golf Course to open May 1 at Wedgewood.  Roland Ward is the caretaker of the course and he has 12 years experience in golf course work.   From the Cabool Enterprise — Men and High School Boys Haircuts $1.50 Boys Under High School $1.25 (effective April 1). 

Men are playing Tuesday evenings anytime after 5:00 as weather permits.   Please join if you can.  Leagues will begin in May.  The Daily game plays at 1:00 p.m. except Mondays.

Spring has sprung at Wedgewood — zoysia grass is beginning to show some green; spring beauties are in bloom and the flowering crabapples are blooming.

Wedgewood is looking for volunteers.  If you’re interested, please leave a message at the proshop — 417.926.5374.  April hours are Tuesday through Friday noon till 7 p.m. and Saturday and Sundays 8 a.m. till 7 p.m.  Closed Mondays.
