Wedgewood Happenings — 07.16.2018

Congratulations to Jeremy Hannaford, 1st place winner and Adam Howe, 2nd place in Men’s League July 3rd.  Adam also won CTP on hole 2 and Jeremy won CTP on hole 7.   Other winners include CTP Jackson Raney, hole 5 and Frank Proctor won a skin on hole 6.   Men’s League July 10th included Kevin Clary, 1st place and Levi West, 2nd place. Kevin also had skin winners on holes 6 and 7 and CTP on hole 7.  Other CTP winners were Trent Jones, hole 2 and John Cook, hole 5.

Women’s League numbers and C&D participants have been small the past couple weeks.  Several members have been on vacation, busy with family activities or the heat has kept them inside.   Monday, July 2nd Women’s League winners were Mary Beth Kaps and Jackie Smith.  Jackie had MOPs (My Own Par) on holes 4, 6 and 7 and CTP on hole 5.  Mary Beth had CTP on hole 2.   Wednesday evening July 11th Ladies winner was Julie Lenardson.  Jeanette Hale had CTP on hole 2 and Mary Beth Kaps had the longest putt on hole 9.

Wedgewood is happy to have Jeanette Hale as a new proshop volunteer this season.   Jeanette is new to golf and exited about playing.  Jeanette retired from Cabool Elementary School with 29 years of teaching service in preschool, kindergarten and second grade.  Jeanette’s husband is JT Hale, Technical Center Director at Mtn Grove Schools.  Jeanette’s greatest love is her family of three children — Trevor, a teacher and coach at Reed Springs; Nicole, a graduate student in Physical Therapy at SBU and Curtis, a student at MSU.

Doug and I recently played the Keystone Colorado River Course.  This is a challenging course with its many bunkers and water hazards.  Several mountain holes make for interesting elevation changes and beautiful overlooks including Lake Dillon and Snake River.  A couple years ago Doug played the adjoining Keystone Ranch Course which makes this public complex a 36-hole golf course.

Lots of golfing opportunities are scheduled for the next couple months.  The Ryder Cup Matches will be held July 21-22 at Ava.  The Wedgewood annual C&D Tournament will be held July 28-29.   The Community Foundation 2-Person Scramble is scheduled at Wedgewood August 11.  The 3rd annual  Cabool Kiwanis Tournament at Wedgewood is August 25th.  A new event this year at Wedgewood is the Ladies Tournament September 15th.

We are hoping for cooler temperatures and for some much needed rain this week.  Happy Golfing!
