Wedgewood Happenings — 05.22.2017

Happy Memorial Day!  The Wedgewood pool is cleaned and should be ready for swimmers for the holiday weekend.   Thank you Brian and Marcy Fleetwood, Jody Jarrett and Doug Jones for cleaning and readying the pool to open for the 2017 season.  Thank you, Gale, Proshop Manger, for painting and giving the outdoor furniture a refreshing look.

The Wedgewood 2-Person 18-Hole Scramble Tournament is June 24 and the 1-Person 18-Hole Scramble and Cash Shoot Out Game is rescheduled for July 8.   The 2017 spring weather is not always cooperating for golfing.  Women’s League was cancelled Wednesday evening the 17th  for wind — wind speeds up to 30 mph and gusts near 40 mph.   Friday Cat & Dog was called after a few holes due to approaching severe weather.    The storms have taken a toll on trees at Wedgewood from lightning damage two weeks ago to blowing over a very tall tree on Hole 2 this week and also taking out the beautiful Bradford pear Kenneth Tate memorial tree.

Men’s League results for May 9 includes CTP (closest to the pin) winners Brian Fleetwood, Hole 2; Dusty Schober, Hole 7 and Kevin Clark, Hole 7.  Skin winners include Trent Jones, Hole 4; Dusty Schober, Hole 5 and Doug Jones, Hole 7.  Congratulations to Kevin Clark and Dusty Schober who tied for  first-place.   League results for May 16th includes CTP winners John Cook, Hole 2 and Trent Jones, Holes 5 and 7.   The lone skin winner was Jeremy Raney on Hole 3.  Congratulations to Doug Jones, 1st place and Chase Jones, 2nd place.
