Wedgewood Happenings – 04.04.216

Spring is officially here which means golfing season is fast approaching. The Wedgewood Pro Shop opened April 1st. The pro shop will be operated under a new format with members and volunteers manning the facility. Jim Reaves, a longtime Wedgewood member, is taking a leadership position and organizing a schedule for workers. The pro shop will be open Tuesdays through Fridays from noon till 7 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday 8 a.m. till 7 p.m. Snacks are available for purchase in the pro shop. Wedgewood now accepts credit and debit payments for transactions.

2016 Wedgewood season league play will begin during May including the Monday Women’s League May 9th at 9:30 a.m. The popular Tuesday evening Men’s League will officially begin May 10th at 6:00 p.m. The Friday evening Cat and Dog League will get underway May 13 at 6:00 p.m. The new Wednesday evening women’s league will begin May 11th at 6:00 p.m. These leagues are a fun, relaxing golfing environment for all levels of golfers from experienced to beginning. All leagues offer discounted green fees for non-members. As always you are invited to join the Daily Big Game at 1:00 p.m.

Cabool High School hosted a golf meet at Wedgewood Thursday, March 31 at 4 p.m.  Local teams participating included Cabool, Licking and Mtn. View.  Good luck to all our local young golfers!

Wedgewood is offering a new corporate membership for the 2016 season, and the new member family discount and pool memberships are available.  For additional information, call the pro shop at 417.926.5374.    Children under 12 can play for free after 5 p.m. under the supervision of a member or an adult paid green fee.

The course looks good this Spring and the zoysia grass is beginning to green.  The flowering crabapple is beautiful between holes 6 and 8 if you get to play in that area.   A big thank you to all the volunteers and donors that helped with the grounds projects the past couple seasons.  Jim Reaves would like to recognize volunteer of the week Mike “Sparky” Medwid for his effort in cleaning the grounds at Wedgewood.

Mark your calendar for the upcoming Wedgewood two-person scramble May 28 and 29.  More details to be announced.

Happy Golfing!
